Josh Turner - Long Black Train

I love Josh Turner, this song, and this video - and just wanted to share.

Next month I'm going to see Ol' Joshy-Pooh in concert (9/28), and I'm really excited to see him live.

Hope you enjoy!!

(W)Hole Lotta Diggin' Goin' On

John is having an absolute blast riding and digging in this little machine (at least he was the first couple hours - until all the bouncing started to get to him) but he is definately tearing some things up.

We're in the process up updating and upgrading some things around the house while we wait for Emily - and John wanted a new driveway...so here he is tearing out the old one.

We'll have the unveiling of the new improved driveway in just a couple days.

9 Days!!! 9 Days!!!

Although I was hoping that more days would have been completed by the CCAA for the August batch of referrals - we got definate word that they only went through July 22nd (14th - 22nd = 9 days). UGGGGG!!!!!

We did at least have exciting news with Chuck and Kelly (http://www.ourkatiebug.blogspot.com/) getting their referral for Katie, and Rod & Mary-Mia (http://salsainchina.blogspot.com/) getting their referral for TWINS!!!! "Hip Hip Hubei!" :)

What is this world coming to??

MSN reported today that you should "Never hug a Swiss cow". WHAT?!?!?!

"GENEVA, Switzerland - Keep your distance. Avoid eye contact. And even if it looks cute, never hug a Swiss cow." ROFL!!!

"Responding to numerous “reports of unpleasant meetings between hikers and cattle” along Switzerland’s picture-perfect Alpine trails this summer, the Swiss Hiking Federation has laid down a few ground rules:

Leave the animals in peace and do not touch them. Never caress a calf, do not scare the animals or look them directly in the eye." ROFL!!!

If approached by a cow, the hiking association recommends that walkers remain calm and slowly leave the area without turning their backs on the animal."

Man...I guess asking a Swiss cow for chocolate milk is out of question too!! (hee hee)

Now you know I just HAD to do it

I saw these today.....and was there really any question whether or not our child would have a "BLING" binky?!?!?! NAH!!! (LOL)

I have been really good about my baby buying purchases as of late, but today I picked up a few items for the care package that we're going to send Em when we get her referral.

1) A little cell phone that we can record our voices on
2) A little "Princess" security blanket
3) A little photo album that will contain pictures of us, family, dogs, & house

There's just a couple more items I need to get to complete the package, but I just needed to get her something today. I was a tad down this morning not knowing when we'll get our refferal, and at this point thinking it will be later then I was hoping for, but it helped picking out just these few items for her. I think the official term is "retail therapy". :)

Emily finally has a home

No, unfortunately I'm not talking about OUR Emily - but this Emily...

I love her!!! (hee hee) Emily is a DCUK (http://www.dcuk.com/).

While I was out in San Diego last month, I saw one of these, and had to check it out. Well, his name was Ken, and although I really liked him, I didn't think he would make the trip home too well...so Ken had to stay where he was. While I was out shopping a couple weeks ago I spied a DCUK and had to go over and investigate. As I was walking up to it, I wondered if it was indeed Ken, but when I flipped the name tag over and it said: "My name is Emily" I knew she was coming home with me!!

Congratulations Chuck and Kelly!!!

I'm pleased to introduce you to Kaitlin Maryli Qing Zang.

Kaitlin's Mommy & Daddy (Chuck & Kelly - who I took Chinese class with) received her information yesterday (8/25) and I'm sure they are still on cloud 9.

Isn't she precious?!?!? John said she looks like a little doll. :)

I am so excited for them, and I know I can't wait to follow along on their journey to Kaitlin. If you would like to follow too, their link is: http://www.ourkatiebug.blogspot.com/

Again, congratulations guys - and hopefully your TA will be speedy!!

Happy 41 Brother Man!!!

Although we question the "characters" you hang around with (see picture - hee hee), we want to wish you a very Happy Birthday!!!

Love ya Brother!!

The stork is flying...and has landed for some

Some families are posting that they received their referral today - and more will be getting theirs tomorrow and the beginning of next week (due to translation time). This came as quite a surprise because everyone was thinking that they'd be here next week...at the earliest.

I am very excited for all the families, but I have to admit I'm a bit upset that the word right now is that referrals only go through the 22nd of July. There's nothing "official" about that date right now - so hopefully we'll hear differently within the next few days.

Congratulations to all the families with new babies!! I can't wait to see all the new pictures. :)

If this doesn't make you smile......

Then you must be having a really bad day!! :)

Is he too cute or what?!?!?!

Willie Nelson and John Fogerty

As I mentioned before, yesterday marked our 1-year LID anniversary, and how did we celebrate???......Willie Nelson and John Fogerty. LOL

John and I had not "planned" on attending this show - but there is something about me that not a lot of people know...and that is that Ticketmaster is like Vegas to me. Let me explain ----

I wanted to get my dad tickets (because he loves Willie, and I have never sent him to a concert before) so I checked on Ticketmaster and found some pretty good seats. I purchased them. But I didn't stop there - I had the idea to think, "Well - I got those seats and they're pretty good, I wonder if there are any better??" There were. I purchased them. Needless to say - John and I wound up at the show. LOL

I grew up listening to both Willie and John F., so I wasn't dissapointed. We had a good time, but we REALLY had a good time watching all the people. It was a very diverse group - and we had some good laughs. And let me tell you - the patchouli and b.o. was ripe!!!

I love Mater!! (Tow Mater) :)

Check out the sweet new nightlight my wonderful hubby got me!!! (hee hee)

"I'm having more fun than a twister in a trailer park!!"

Goodbye to a faithful friend

I feel terrible that I failed to mention the passing of a "member" of our family. Our dear Ethan.

Ethan was my Mom & Dad's faithful companion, and on August 7th he left us.

Ethan was a great "Uncle" to my little Bailey from the time I brought him over to meet the family, and until the end, they remained great buds.

He will definately be missed. :(

1 Year LID Anniversary

Today officially marks the 1-year anniversary of us being logged in with the CCAA.

I'm praying that we will get our referral in the next month or two (two being the max), but we should know something better within a week or two. The new batch of referrals should be here before long (hopefully by the end of the month or the 1st week in September).

It's starting to get really exciting now, because a lot of the people I've gotten to know over the past year within the adoption community will be receiving their referrals, and Chuck and Kelly (from KC) will be getting theirs. It's going to be so fun to follow along with them as they head over to China and welcome the newest member of their families.

We're getting closer everyone. Oh, before I forget...while John was doing his daily Bible reading the other day, he emailed me this scripture (and I love it!!)

Proverbs 25:25 Like cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a distant land.

Bring on the good news!!! :)

Howdy Pardner!!!

The cutest cowboy EVER!!!

OUCH!!!

Monday (8/7) we went and got our final Hepatitis shots (precaution for our trip to China).

The shot really didn't hurt - but John said he almost lost it when he turned and looked at me while I was getting mine done. He said the needle was absolutely huge, and the nurse had it buried in my arm up to the plastic part. I did notice the length of the needle before she put it in, but I didn't really feel anything so I didn't think she had injected the whole thing....but I guess she did.

Ah well, lucky I didn't feel it - or I just might have demanded a lollipop!!

Rascal Flatts was AWESOME!!! (8/5/06)

John & I had a wonderful time at the Rascal Flatts concert at Verizon Amphitheater in big 'ol Bonner Springs. It was hot as Hades out there, but we still had a great time. John is not what you'd call a fan (I'm the RF nut) - but he enjoyed them and thought they put on a great show.

The venue was over sold out, and in fact, a record was broken for the number of people attending a show out there. It was absolutely crazy to look back at the general admission lawn section. It was literally a sea of people.

We had really good seats (not super close, but they were good). I did manage to hang out by the stage for a bit and snap some pictures. I'd like to say thanks to my friend Sandy (who had 3rd row tickets) and hooked me up with all her really great shots. I have a ton of pictures from the show thanks to her. I've posted a few of my favorites.

I already can't wait to see the guys again, and next time, I might just have a tiny Flatts fan with me (wink wink).

(Sorry it took me so long to post my "review" Georgia. LOL) :)

All of July - not in July!! **DANG IT!!!**

Definately not what those of us in the adoption community have been hoping and praying for - but CCAA has sent out referrals through July 13th.

We were all hoping to hear that they had completed the whole month, but that just didn't happen.

This month marks our 1-year anniversary (8/23) and I'm not holding my breath that we'll here about our referral. Hopefully it will be next month, October at the latest.

I am excited though that our friends Chuck and Kelly (who I took Chinese class with) should be receiving their referral by the end of the month.
